What you need to know about the LTC Policy
On July 17, 2007, Act 40 was signed into law to address the need for long-term care services. Act 40 establishes the “Long-Term Care Partnership” offering residents of Pennsylvania the opportunity to provide for themselves while helping to conserve taxpayer resources.
Apart from encouraging financially and medically qualified Pennsylvanians to invest and save for long-term care, this policy serves protection by mandating all long-term insurance policies in Pennsylvania to provide comprehensive coverage for health care needs.

When to use the policy?
People who can no longer perform two or more Activities of Daily Living on their own are eligible for the benefit.
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) include the following:
- Bathing (washing one’s body)
- Toileting (going to the toilet, cleaning oneself, and getting up)
- Dressing (choosing and wearing appropriate clothes)
- Grooming (maintaining oral hygiene, nail care, and hair care)
- Transferring and ambulation (walking without assistance, getting up from bed, sitting)
- Self-feeding (finishing a meal without assistance)
When to file a claim?
